How can we honor the magnificent beings that have long come before us?

They have each left imprints for us to discover and tell stories about. These imprints are like voices from the past that beckon us to never forget.

Fossils are those imprints.

We carefully excavate them, study them and tell their stories for many generations to come. We see them in museums, galleries, anthropology labs and the curious homes of avid collectors.

These beautiful, smooth, glossy, marbleized fossil jars with lids respectfully share in this prehistoric legacy.

They are made with ancient goniatite ammonites and pieces of orthoceras. Both are similar to one another.

Orthoceras translates to "straight horn" and they existed over 400 miliion years ago. Orthoceras belong to the ancient genus, nautiloid cephalopod. These were soft-bodied creatures that lived inside of a hard, solid, elongated shell that greatly varied in size.

Ammonites are reported to be at least 350 million years old. They are extinct marine mollusks that used to roam the deep ocean of what is now the Sahara Desert in Africa. They are nautilus-like but actually related to today's squid, octopuses and cuttlefish.

In Europe, during medieval times, ammonites were often referred to as "snakestones" or "serpentstones" because many people thought they looked like petrified coiled snakes. The fossils were believed to endow people with oracle powers and provide healing for various ailments.

Fossils are believed by some to imbue calming, relaxing, peaceful, tranquil energy and are associated with business endeavors. They are said to help bring about accomplishments in business, communication, and the development of innovation and plans.

In this lot, each jar's lid is embedded with a gorgeous swirl of ammonite and every vessel is unique and expertly polished. Expect no jar to be exactly the same as another.

These impressive treasure jars can be used to store jewelry, trinkets, crystal tumbles, tiny beads and other small items. Or they can be used as altar vessels and intriguing home décor displays. These are very sturdy jars and the lids have well-carved insets.
