These pretty Indonesian rainsticks are made with bamboo and are handmade and hand-painted in Bali, a beautiful island province in Indonesia.
Expect these to have some natural "imperfections" and subtle variations since they are made by hand by local Balinese artisans.
Each stick is:
- -16" in length
- -2" in diameter
- -Around 342g (slightly varying).
Rainsticks get their name from the fascinating and lulling sound they make, which resembles the sound of calming but stimulating rain. They are considered to be sacred musical instruments in various cultures, especially in Africa and Asia.
These sticks are also often used as tools in meditation and rain-summoning rituals. The rituals are believed to create a welcoming and inspiring energy for rainfall.
This instrument is played by holding the stick vertically, and slowly or rhythmically flipping the stick from one end to the other to create the atmospheric sound of rain falling. The sound is intensified when several people are playing rainsticks at once.
These sticks make a charming gift, they can be used for your own spiritual intentions or they can be a wonderful, exotic instrument to use in your music-making explorations.
